I turned my new LAVAŽ brand motion lamp on and nothing moves, is it broken?
During initial warm up of your Lava® brand motion lamp, the coil
in the globe may tend to stand on end or float to the top of the globe.
If this happens, keep your Lava® brand motion lamp operating for 4
hours or more to allow the "LAVAŽ" to become completely
molten. The coil should then automatically drop to its correct position
at the bottom of the globe. If the coil does not drop down, twirl the globe
gently in the base (see picture) and the coil will drop.

Why does the wax in my LAVAŽ brand motion lamp settle at the bottom?
Have you placed your lamp on top of a television or by a window? Do not place the lamp near sources of heat or cold, such as a heater or air conditioner. The lamp operates best at temperatures between 21oC/68oF to 23oC/72oF. Operate the lamp on flat and stationary surfaces which are at room temperature.
How long have you had your motion lamp? It could be a sign of age or the light bulb may need to be changed. The length of time a light bulb lasts varies based on the amount of usage.

Why is the liquid cloudy?
Sometimes due to being in transit, stores and consumers may occasionally receive a cloudy unit. If your lava lamp arrives cloudy, turn the lamp on until the wax breaks up and as soon as it begins, shut the lamp off again until it cools. If running the lamp in these short "bursts" 4-6 times does not result in a clear lamp, please call 888-463-3332 and we will contact the manufacturer on your behalf for a replacement. Cloudy globes are NOT considered defective. If a LAVAŽ brand motion lamp has been dropped or shaken while its warm, then the LAVAŽ blobs and the liquid mix together to create a murky or cloudy looking liquid. This is not covered by the 90 day warranty, but you may be able to save your lamp if you immediately turn it off and let the wax settle to the bottom of the globe and completely cools. Then, turn the lamp on until the wax breaks up and as soon as it begins, shut the lamp off again until it cools. The globe may also be cloudy as a sign of age, if that is the case, then we suggest that you purchase a new lamp.

Im missing some fluid from my LAVAŽ brand motion lamp. Can I have some fluid sent to me?
Please note that the room at the top of the globe is there to allow for the fluid to expand when it warms up.
In addition, there is a tendency for the fluid level to decrease over time, especially on the older units
from the 1970s. We do not ship the fluid by itself, and we are unable to refill old globes. We suggest that you purchase a new globe.

LAVAŽ brand motion lamp and LAVAŽ brand WAVEŽ motion machine cleanup:
The LAVAŽ brand WAVEŽ motion machine contains water and silicon oil. Wearing rubber gloves, carefully pick up and dispose of waste material into a proper container. For carpet, blot up spilled material with an absorbent disposable cloth and then follow the cleaning directions from your particular carpet manufacturer. For floors, wipe up with disposable cloth and clean with normal floor cleaning detergent.
LAVAŽ brand WIZARDŽ glitter lamp cleanup:
The glitter lamp contains a combination chemical compound with glitter flex. If the globe is broken, then the exposed liquid will have a strong odor, but it is not harmful if it is handled properly.
1. Open doors and/or windows to air out the surroundings.
2. Wear rubber gloves during the clean up process in order to protect against skin irritation and to prevent cuts from broken glass.
3. Carefully pick up and dispose of broken glass.
4. Use disposable towels to soak up excess liquid. Do NOT use water to aid in clean up because the liquid is not water soluble.
5. Dispose of any products soiled by the liquid and remove to an outside area.
6. After the liquid has been cleaned up, a commercial cleaning detergent may be used to deep clean the area.
Prompt clean up is the key in removing any stains and dissipating the odor.

Why do the LAVAŽ blobs break up into many little balls?
First of all, each LAVAŽ brand motion lamp has its own personality. The amount of blobs present could be attributed to how hot the motion lamp is. Do not place your motion lamp near sources of heat, as this may cause the lamp to overheat and impair its performance. If you have a ceramic base on your lamp, then the lamp is equipped with a dimmer switch. Adjust the dimmer switch to a lower setting if your lamp starts to overheat. Very little blobs (dot sized) will occur naturally as the LAVAŽ blobs pull apart and reform. Tiny dot sized blobs may also occur if the motion lamp is shaken up.
