Galileo Thermometers
Our Galileo Thermometers are handmade in Germany. Galileo Thermometers are works of functional art, created by master glassblowers. Galileo Galilei discovered that liquids
change density as the temperature varies; the higher the temperature, the less dense the liquid becomes and vise verse.
When the temperature rises, the liquid in the thermometer's glass tube becomes less dense and the bulbs will sink slowly one by one. In the same way, the bulbs will rise as the temperature decreases. The temperature is read by the thermometer's lowest floating bulb. Each bulb has a gold colored weight with the temperature imprinted on it.
Galileo Thermometers make a great gift item for anyone one who loves the unique, enjoys filling their surroundings with beautiful, useful and conversational
pieces, and/or simply enjoys the mesmerizing piece of history.
